Waterway Executive 56-Frame Two-Speed Spa Pump - 1 Horsepower 230 Volt

This is a genuine 1 HP spa pump confirmed by its 8.0 Amp high-speed rating. Many motor labels display inflated horsepower claims, but amperage never lies. This Waterway Executive pump operates on 230 volts with dual speeds and features a versatile 56-frame motor.

Key Features and Specifications:

  • True 1 HP performance verified by 8.0 Amp high-speed draw
  • 230 Volt, two-speed operation for optimal efficiency
  • 56-frame motor housing
  • 2 inch intake and 2 inch discharge plumbing connections
  • Rotatable Executive wet end assembly (adjustable to 12, 3, 6, or 9 o'clock positions)
  • Optional bleeder valve fitting can be installed if your previous pump included one

Understanding True Horsepower Ratings:

Accurate horsepower is determined by amperage, not motor labels. For two-speed pumps, check your current motor label for the dual amperage readings (example: 10.0/3.5). The first higher number represents high-speed amperage:

  • 8.0 Amps = 1 HP
  • 10.0 Amps = 2 HP
  • 12.0 Amps = 3 HP
  • 14.0 Amps = 4 HP
  • 16.0 Amps = 5 HP

Important electrical safety note: Installing a pump with higher amperage than your original can overload control boards and other spa components. Most residential hot tubs operate on 50-amp service. Two pumps plus a 5.5kW heater must stay within this electrical capacity, which typically limits pumps to 1-2 HP each despite manufacturer claims of 5+ HP.

The rotatable wet end provides installation flexibility for various plumbing configurations. The optional bleeder fitting ensures quick replacement even if your original bleeder valve broke during removal.
