This part is the slinger found between the impeller and wet end and the shaft going into the pump motor bearing area and is designed to sling water away from the bearing in case of a seal leak at the wet end..
Note: It has to be placed on the motor shaft before you install the wet end volute,, it is not a required part but can help prolong the life of the front bearing in some cases..
