Flange

Flange heater elements are bolt-on style heating cores designed for easy installation and removal in hot tub and spa flow-thru manifolds. The flat flange plate (typically with 4–6 bolt holes) seals against the manifold with a gasket/O-ring, providing a secure, leak-resistant connection while the coiled or straight sheath extends into the water path for efficient heat transfer. These are ideal for manifolds with flange openings and are common in aftermarket and OEM replacements.

This category includes replacement flange heater elements and direct fits, in standard ratings: 4.0kW, 4.5kW, 5.5kW, 6.0kW, 8.0kW, and 11.0kW (120V or 240V), with Incoloy (standard), stainless steel, or titanium sheaths for corrosion resistance. Popular styles include HydroQuip universal flange (e.g., 9100/9200/9300 series), Balboa/Gecko flange-mount, Sundance/Jacuzzi compatible, Dimension One flange types, and titanium upgrades for saltwater spas. Elements often come with mounting gaskets, bolts (if needed), and sometimes hi-limit thermowell ports.

Flange elements vary by wattage/voltage, sheath material/length, flange diameter/hole pattern (e.g., 2.5"–3" OD, 4-bolt or 6-bolt), bend configuration (straight or U-bend), watt density (matched to flow rate), and manifold compatibility—precise matching ensures proper sealing, correct insertion depth, and safe operation without burnout or leaks.

Common problems include no heat from failed coils inside the sheath, slow heating due to scale accumulation on the flange-exposed element, corrosion/leakage around the gasket in non-titanium units with salt or poor chemistry, tripped breakers from shorts, or element pull-out from loose bolts/over-torquing. Replacing just the flange heater element is cost-effective and straightforward—often requiring only gasket replacement and bolt tightening for a full restore.

To select the right flange heater element:
- Confirm your spa brand/model, control pack, voltage, kW rating, manifold flange opening size/hole pattern, sheath length, and any markings on the existing element flange.
- Check for scale, corrosion, gasket condition, or heating-related error codes.
