Sequential Switches & Relays

Sequential switches and sequential relays are electrical switching devices used
in hot tubs and spas to control the order in which pumps blowers or accessories
turn on and off. These devices prevent multiple high-amperage components from
starting at the same time.

This category includes spa sequential switches and sequential relays used to
stage equipment operation and reduce electrical load during startup. Sequential
devices are commonly used on older spas and systems without modern electronic
control logic.

Sequential switches and relays operate by delaying power to additional equipment
until the first device is already running. This helps prevent nuisance breaker
trips and reduces stress on electrical components.

Sequential switches differ from standard relays in that they control timing and
order of operation rather than simple on/off switching. Some units are mechanical
while others are electrically timed.

Common symptoms of a failed sequential switch or relay include pumps not turning
on in the correct order only one device operating or equipment failing to start.
These issues are often caused by worn contacts internal timing failure or heat
damage.

Sequential switches and relays must be matched by voltage amperage number of
outputs and timing configuration. Parts that appear similar are often not
interchangeable.

Before ordering identify the existing sequential device part number wiring
configuration and equipment being controlled.

If you are unsure which sequential switch or relay is correct for your spa do not
guess. Text clear photos of the existing device wiring connections and equipment
labels and we will help confirm the correct replacement before you order.
