Relays
Relays are electrically operated switches used in hot tubs and spas to control
equipment such as pumps heaters blowers lights and auxiliary components. Relays
allow low-voltage control signals from the control system to safely switch
higher-voltage electrical loads.
This category includes spa relays used on electronic control boards and in
standalone relay applications. Relays are commonly used to switch pumps heaters
and accessories on and off during normal spa operation.
Spa relays vary by coil voltage contact rating number of poles normally open or
normally closed configuration and mounting style. Relays that appear similar are
often not interchangeable and must be matched correctly.
Common symptoms of a failing relay include equipment not turning on staying on
continuously clicking noises intermittent operation or tripped breakers. These
issues are often caused by worn contacts burned terminals or failed relay coils.
Relays are wear items and can fail over time due to heat electrical load and
repeated cycling. Replacing a failed relay without addressing the underlying
cause such as excessive amperage or component failure may result in repeat
failures.
Before ordering identify the relay coil voltage contact amperage number of poles
and the equipment being controlled. Using an incorrect relay can result in
equipment damage or unsafe operation.
If you are unsure which relay is correct for your spa do not guess. Text clear
photos of the existing relay markings control board location and equipment label
and we will help confirm the correct replacement before you order.
