GFCI Breakers

GFCI breakers (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters) are critical electrical safety
devices used in hot tubs and spas to protect users from electrical shock. GFCI
breakers monitor current flow and immediately shut off power if a ground fault
or current imbalance is detected.

This category includes spa-rated GFCI breakers used to protect hot tubs and spa
electrical systems. GFCI breakers are required by electrical code for all hot
tubs and spas and are typically installed in the main disconnect or subpanel.

GFCI breakers vary by voltage amperage number of poles brand compatibility and
trip characteristics. Breakers that appear similar are often not interchangeable
and must match the spa’s electrical requirements exactly.

Common symptoms of GFCI breaker issues include nuisance tripping failure to reset
or breakers that trip immediately when power is applied. In many cases the GFCI
breaker is doing its job and the real issue is a downstream electrical fault such
as a heater problem pump issue moisture intrusion or wiring damage.

Replacing a GFCI breaker without diagnosing the cause of the trip may result in
continued tripping. A GFCI breaker rarely fails unless it will not reset or will
not hold with all loads disconnected.

Before ordering identify the breaker brand voltage amperage and number of poles
required for your spa. Installing an incorrect GFCI breaker can result in unsafe
operation or code violations.

If you are unsure which GFCI breaker is correct for your spa do not guess. Text
clear photos of the existing breaker panel breaker label and spa wiring diagram
and we will help confirm the correct replacement before you order.
