Control Systems, Air (Mechanical)

Air control systems also known as mechanical or pneumatic control systems are used
in hot tubs and spas to operate pumps blowers lights and auxiliary functions using
air pressure instead of electronic signals.

This category includes complete air control systems air switches pneumatic control
boxes manifolds tubing connections and related mechanical control components.
Air control systems work by sending air pressure through small tubing to activate
mechanical air switches which turn spa equipment on or off.

Air control systems are commonly found in older spas commercial spas and
applications where simplicity and moisture resistance are preferred over
electronic controls.

Unlike electronic control systems air control systems do not use circuit boards
software or digital communication. Operation is entirely mechanical making these
systems resistant to electrical interference and moisture damage.

Common issues with air control systems include air leaks cracked tubing failed
air switches stuck valves or worn diaphragms. These issues are mechanical in
nature and are not related to electrical faults or software errors.

Air control systems are not interchangeable with electronic control systems and
cannot be converted without major modifications to the spa equipment and wiring.
