HydroQuip

HydroQuip hi-limit sensors are safety temperature sensors used in HydroQuip spa
control systems to prevent continued overheating. These sensors monitor water
temperature independently of the main temperature sensor and will shut down the
heater or entire system if unsafe temperature conditions are detected.

Important clarification: A hi-limit sensor does not cause a hot tub to overheat.
Its sole purpose is to stop continued overheating. If a spa is overheating the
hi-limit sensor is doing its job and the actual cause of overheating must be
identified and corrected.

Common causes of hot tub overheating include excessive filtration or heating
cycles especially during hot ambient weather pumps running too frequently or for
extended periods incorrect pump wiring after a recent pump replacement and heat
being trapped due to heavy insulation during summer months.

Circulation pumps run continuously by design and do not cause overheating.

Control board relay failure can cause overheating but this is rare.

In very hot climates venting the spa cover by breaking the seal on one side can
help release trapped heat although cooling may take several days.

This category includes hi-limit sensors designed specifically for HydroQuip
control systems. HydroQuip hi-limit sensors vary by resistance value connector
type cable length mounting style and control system compatibility and must be
matched correctly to the specific HydroQuip system in use.

Symptoms of a faulty HydroQuip hi-limit sensor may include nuisance shutdowns
overheat-related error codes or failure to reset after the spa has cooled.
Corrosion scale buildup sensor drift or moisture intrusion can affect sensor
accuracy.

HydroQuip hi-limit sensors are not interchangeable with sensors from other brands.
Sensors that appear similar may have different resistance values and will not
function correctly if mismatched.

Before ordering identify the HydroQuip control system model and existing hi-limit
sensor part number. Some HydroQuip systems use separate hi-limit and temperature
sensors while others use combination sensors depending on system generation.

If you are unsure which HydroQuip hi-limit sensor is correct for your spa do not
guess. Text clear photos of the existing sensor control box and wiring connections
and we will help confirm the correct replacement before you order.
